Organic Beetroot – Gold (250g) Australia
$7.65
Rumoured to be grown in the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, beetroot’s nutritious and sweet taste has endured the test of time. Both beets and chard are different varieties within the same plant family– beta vulgaris – and their edible leaves share a resemblance in both taste and texture. Attached to the beet’s green leaves is a round or oblong root. This is the part that most people conjure up when they think of the word “beet.”
The golden beetroot’s sweeter taste compared to red beetroot reflects its higher sugar content. It also has a smoother taste and its golden colour brightens up any dish.
Golden beetroot’s rich contents of Vitamins A & C benefit the immune system; essential minerals such as potassium invigorates the nervous system, organs and bones.
Barry’s tips: Eaten raw or cooked, golden beetroot can be used in salads, juice mixes, and sandwiches.
