Chlorella is a single celled algae, known as an alkaline superfood, that is especially rich in carotenoids and the green pigment chlorophyll.
Carotenoids are powerful antioxidants which is linked to cancer and heart disease prevention. Chlorella is rich in vitamin B12. Since B12 is a vitamin that is hard for vegetarians to get from their diet, chlorella makes a wonderful addition to such animal free diets. Besides it naturally stimulates the production of red blood cells in the body, thereby aiding in oxygen transit throughout the body.
It is thought that our typical diet needs to be more alkalising, which requires an increased intake of fruits and vegetables, especially green leafy varieties and those rich in chlorophyll.
For Adults: Mix 1 teaspoon of chlorella into juice, smoothie or other foods. Build up to 4 times daily. It is best to start with a low intake and gradually build up to the recommended amount.
For Children (5 – 12 yrs): ½ to 1 teaspoon daily.
